It’s Still The Record Holder For The Largest Wingspan Of Any Aircraft.

Nobody here at World War Wings has ever had the pleasure to actually see the mighty H-4 Hercules in person, but we found the next best thing; a Youtube video featuring its tour.

A patron of the Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum in McMinnville, Oregon took it upon himself to record this tour. Not only do you get to see many of the places visitors are typically not allowed in, he gives a lot of details of the different instrumentation that many of you will most likely find very interesting.

Almost the entire plane was made out of birch because of the restrictions on aluminum use during World War II.

Be warned, however. The video is about 13 minutes long which is way longer than we typically post about, but we definitely found this interesting and informative enough for you folks not to care. Feel free to skip around of course, but if you have the time, we recommend you watch the whole thing. Even if you know a lot about the Hercules, we guarantee you’ll find out something new.
