At the end of the day though, this maneuver is pretty useless no matter how spectacular it looks. It will definitely win the hearts and minds of people when they see it performed at an airshow, but when it comes to combat, that will win nothing. What most people don’t realize is that our dogfighting days are over. Planes no longer try to shake another from each other’s “sixes.”

We recommend you TURN OFF THE VOLUME. Unless you like getting your head pounded by metal that is.

Instead, it’s all about stealth nowadays, which is why the DoD is spending what it is developing our new 5th generation fighter, namely, the F-35 Lightning II. The point of the new battle for air superiority is to never to be seen. We get in, do our job and get out. That’s it.

The video is quite lengthy and has a lot of clips in it, but we recommend that you watch the one that starts 30 seconds in. It’s really incredible.
