It has been a little bit of a rough week for the world of aviation. So far two members of the Thunderbirds crashed landed their F-16s and a storm tore through planes in an Air Force Base in Nebraska.

An 80-year-old woman traveling with her family from Shanghai decided it would be a great idea to pray for a safe travel. She did so by throwing nine coins into the turbine of a China Southern Airlines A320 Airbus. Fellow passengers were thrilled with this “blessing” and maintenance crews were called in to inspect the engine for safety.

Passengers were evacuated from the plane as crews disassembled the engine and extracted the coins in a process that took over five hours while stationed at Pudong International Airport. I’m sure she meant well, but after dealing check-ins, security and the lack of leg room I’m sure the land thing they wanted to hear was “Hold on, we have 78 cents in the engine.”

So just when you think your trip is going back at least you don’t have to deal with this.
