This Is So Cool.

This is one of our favorite clips featuring World War II’s most iconic flying boat, namely, the PBY Catalina. Used from bombing to search and rescue, over 3,000 of them were built and many are still airworthy. Not only that, some are actually still used for fire bombing almost 80 years after they were built.

Here, you’ll see one of these massive flying boats having some fun. Just so you know, this is from a movie so it was all controlled and nobody was in harm’s way. Well, not that much.

This clip was pulled from Steven Spielberg’s movie Always. It was a remake of a 1943 movie about the spirit of a deceased pilot who trained a new pilot. Meanwhile, he sees his girlfriend fall in love for his girlfriend that’s still alive. It’s a pretty good movie so we recommend watching it if you haven’t already.

One thing to keep in mind while you’re watching this clip is that back 1989 when this movie was made CGI was available but not used here. What we’re saying is that this was a carefully choreographed stunt. The boat was real, the plane was real and the guys jumping into the water were real. Pretty awesome stunt if you ask us.
