Condolences To All Those Affected.

On Saturday, September 2nd, 2017, tragedy struck during a small airshow near Moscow, Russia. The pilot and copilot of a Russian built An-2 Antonov perished when they crashed while performing aerobatic maneuvers for the plane’s 70th anniversary.

Antonov An-2 first flew on August 31st, 1947. Since then, over 18,000 of them were produced.

There are multiple videos online from this crash, as many spectators were filming this historic event. We’ve queued up the one that showed the possible reason for the crash at the start of a loop. Although an investigation is underway and no results were released as of this writing, it seems clear that the pilot and copilot simply ran out of room when exiting the loop. You can also tell that they banked during the final seconds of flight which probably ate the last bit of speed and altitude they had.

Luckily, however, there were no reported injuries on the ground.
