50 Cal Armor-Piercing Incendiary Rounds SLOW MOTION!!! | World War Wings Videos

These .50 cal Bullets Can Do Some Serious Damage

Wow. How we just love the 50 cal round. It’s just so fascinating to see these rounds fly down range do serious damage. And being that most U.S. WWII planes used 50 cal guns, we thought it would be nice to share some really interesting content with you on the armor-piercing incendiary round we found in this clip.

This camera is going to run at 50,000 frames per second so you can see everything happen in slow motion. How awesome is that high-speed camera! You can actually see the bullet leaving the gun.

So what happens is, the round has a penetrator that is hardened steel, which does the work as far as piercing the plate. You could just imagine how expensive the ammo is, though! Now imagine how much more a WWII plane would have damaged the enemy if they had these rounds available. That would have been really interesting.
