5,000hp ROAR: A-26B Invader’s Powerful Takeoff @ Switzerland

At Bern, Switzerland, aviation enthusiasts were treated to the awe-inspiring sight of the Douglas A-26B Invader N500MR as it roared down the runway.

Fully restored to its original glory, this rare “On Mark Marketeer” variant dazzled the crowd with a powerful takeoff.

The thunderous growl of the two Pratt & Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp engines, each producing 2,400 horsepower, added to the spectacle as the aircraft lifted into the sky.

Originally built in 1945 with serial number 28048, this A-26B Invader began its life in the USAAF and has since enjoyed a luxurious post-military career. Now registered as N500MR, it boasts a polished, gleaming exterior and an exquisite interior featuring a 6-seat cabin with leather seats, a fridge, and even a whiskey bar.

With nearly 5,000 total horsepower, this aircraft cruises at 450 km/h with a range of four hours, offering a truly remarkable flight experience.
