What a Beast!

The Antonov AN-22A used to be the biggest aircraft in the world, until the American C-5 Galaxy and later the Soviet AB-124 came along. This plane is powered by four contra-rotating turboprops, and it remains one of the biggest turboprop-powered aircraft in the world. The AN-22A was first seen outside the Soviet Union during the 1965 Paris Air Show.

The video features this awesome plane starting up and departing from Oostende bound for Africa on July 16, 2020. This was Antonov Airlines flight ADB5435. You can hear the Kuznetsov engines driving these massive contra-rotating props and creating an incredible sound.

For us, the best part of the entire video was definitely the during take-off. It’s definitely a classic aircraft with a unique sound. The double props are also pretty neat. What are your thoughts?
