What a Machine

Commonly called the “Bone,” the Rockwell B-1 Lancer is a supersonic variable-sweep wing, heavy bomber utilized by the United States Air Force. As of 2023, it’s one of the three strategic bombers that serve the US Air Force fleet along with the B-2 Spirit, and the B-52 Stratofortress.

The video features this highly versatile plane during start and take-off at the RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire, England last October 11, 2021. It definitely captured, in great detail the entire pre-takeoff sequence.

For us, it’s definitely one of the best planes ever designed. It’s hard to imagine that this is now over 53 years old, yet the design still looks futuristic, especially from the rear. We also love seeing the intake vortices!

What do you think? Is the Bone one of the coolest aircraft out there?
