Can I just say this is one exceptional gun? That muzzle blast is actually pretty serious — just take a look at how the ground clutter rises. I’m not sure about you but this is an absolute dream of a rifle. Another thing I liked was this particular BAR was an early model and yet still in stellar condition. It doesn’t get any better than that.
The BAR was designed to be carried by infantrymen during an assault or advance while supported by the sling over the shoulder or fired from the hip. This is a concept called “walking fire” — thought to be necessary for the individual soldier during trench warfare.
Love that distinctive sound though — it’s unique and definitely unmistakable. Some people may think it’s quite overrated but I still believe it’s iconic in so many ways. But then again, it’s an undeniably beautiful rifle and it will always be one of my favorites.
