What a Cool Old Bird

The Grumman F8F Bearcat is an American single-engine, carrier-based, fighter plane that was introduced late in World War II. Throughout its service life, it served the United States Navy, the United States Marine Corps, and the air forces of other countries. It was Grumman’s last piston-engine fighter plane.

This video features the start-up of the Grumman F8F Bearcat “Blue Angel” at Aurora Muni. We just love the sound of a round engine firing up. It may be a little hard to start up at first, but when the engine is all nice and warmed up, the sound is really nice. We absolutely dig the clunking sound during the rotation before ignition.
