F-15s and F-35s Impress Spectators

A bright sunny day, a wide open field, and a great view to top it off. Ted Coningsby had the best time watching the F-15 and F-35 take off from RAF Lakenheath.

The two fighters are part of the 48th Fighter Wing based in Lakenheath and were about to perform unrestricted vertical climbs.

You can hear the growl of the F-15’s engines as it flies past the camera at 1:20 – with its afterburners in full display.

These fighters can clear the whole runway while maintaining an altitude of anywhere between 40-100 ft, with speeds of around 320 mph. They would then pull the aircraft vertically to quickly climb to their cruising altitudes.

After watching the three F-15s take off, we finally get to see the F-35 do an unrestricted vertical climb as well. You can tell how maneuverable the F-35 truly is at 3:40.

The fighter had no problems vertically climbing that fast, disappearing into the clouds after a few seconds.

The second F-35 was in close pursuit, which was then followed by a third Lightning that looked like it defied gravity with how fast it climbed vertically.

What a day that must have been for the spectators on the ground. These fighters were no slouch when it came to performing in front of the crowd!
