Remembering Pilot and Animal Rescuer Seuk Kim
Seuk Kim, a 49-year-old pilot from Springfield, Virginia, dedicated his life to rescuing animals from overcrowded shelters and disaster zones. On Sunday, his mission ended in tragedy when his plane crashed in New York’s Catskill Mountains, claiming his life and that of one of the three dogs aboard.

Kim’s 1986 Mooney M20J encountered poor visibility and turbulence before going down near Windham, just 35 miles from his destination in Albany. Two dogs, Whiskey, a 4-month-old Labrador-mix with broken legs, and Pluto, an 18-month-old Yorkshire terrier, survived.
