That Beauty Is Something Else

It’s no secret that the Vought F4U Corsair is one of my favorite war birds. Some may think it looks weird or mismatched (as if someone put together various parts which didn’t go together) but that’s where the appeal lies – it’s uniquely beautiful. When I think of classic planes, this is definitely the first that comes to mind. And that sweet sound as it starts – it’s like music to my ears.

The thing is, this plane is a perfect example of “don’t judge a book by its cover.” Put them up against any prop driven enemy plane and the Corsair is sure to outrun, outclimb, and outfight it. It’s a total bad ass and a real beast in the skies. Good luck to those on the receiving end of this one!
