Powered by four Wright R-1820-97 Cyclone radial engines, the Commemorative Air Force’s Sentimental Journey has everything it needs to keep the legacy of the B-17 alive. She didn’t always look like that, however.

It took until 1985 to finally complete the restoration of this B-17 to its original wartime configuration. That year, they added four operational turrets, bomb bay doors, navigator and radio operator stations, a Norden bombsight, and a few more machine guns.

Over the years, this B-17 performed all over North America, showcasing the hard work and dedication of its restoration crew all while upholding the sacrifices the bomber crews made during the war.

Watch how loud Sentimental Journey can get while starting up its engines in the video below!
