That’ll Wake You Up.

We just found a YouTube channel calledĀ e57michelĀ and figured you World War Wings folks would be interested in the content he provides. Most of his videos are of various air raid sirens from around Germany and as aviation fans, we found it very fascinating. If you guys like this one, we’ll do some more research and show you different types of sirens in the future.

During World War II, air-raid sirens were often called “Meiers trumpets” by Germans.

This particular video doesn’tĀ tell us where this siren is, but we do know it’s in Germany. It does tell us, however, that what you’re about to hear is a siren made by Elektror back in the 30s.

Now, stepping back a bit, can you imagine what it was like to live back then during those years? You could be sleeping in the middle of the night and this chilling sound would make you spring up on your feet and run for cover. As creepy as the sound is, that was only the beginning of your troubles. That sound meant that bombs were about to drop from the sky.
