Largest And Most Impressive RC Model?
The Jets & Props 2022, held at Genderkingen/Donauwörth, Germany, had one significant and anticipated guest – the world’s largest RC model, Otto Wildroither’s 1/6 scale Concorde!
Straight out the gate, you could see how massive this Concord truly is. With a wingspan of 13 ft and a length of 65.6 ft, this RC plane is built like no other. Its takeoff weight is already 330 lbs, so four JetCat P300 Pros were fitted into the airframe to power the aircraft.
Otto’s Concorde also has pneumatic gears and four fuel tanks, each capable of holding 6 L of fuel.
The aircraft’s enormous size and heavy weight don’t mean it’s a slouch in the air, either. It took off relatively quickly at the 1:50 mark, with Otto banking left to make a pass over the crowd. The RC Concorde can also do loops and rolls, which it did perfectly around 3:20.
Additionally, observers were impressed by the attention to detail given to the beautiful RC jet. Its paint scheme was flawless, while the windows and the miniature pilots inside the cockpit completed the entire setup.
