What Did You Expect From Christopher Nolan?

The long anticipated movie DunkirkĀ is is coming out this Thursday, July 20th here in the States, but a select few were able to see the world premiere on July 13th at the Odeon Leicester Square in London, England. The reviews were practically unanimous; the movie borders on a being a masterpiece.Ā

Written and directed by Christopher Nolan, it’s not a complete surprise but it was, after all, his first attempt at making a historical film. His previous hits including Momento, Inception, the Dark Knight Trilogy, and Interstellar really showed his fans what he’s capable of, but he wasn’t tied down to a plot that was not his own. Here, he had to show accurate historical events.

He didn’t fail.

We’ll Ā let the video below tell you about what to expect, but the key thing that stood out for us here at World War Wings was the sentence, “unlike Saving Private Ryan and Hacksaw Ridge, Dunkirk never lingers on gruesome shots of gruesome corpses to convey the horror of war.” He combines his directing, cinematography and music score by Hans Zimmer to show the terror of it all.

That’s why we can’t wait to watch it.
