The F-22 Raptor has been a fan favorite of combat pilots and is sometimes touted as the best fighter jet around. To the dismay of many, only a mere 195 of them were built before the production lines shut down in favor of producing the F-35 instead. Eight years have passed since the program was shut down but a recent classified report mentions that the F-22 might be returning to the production lines.

The United States Air Force has submitted a report to the House Armed Services Committee detailing the needs American air power. The F-22 Raptor is mentioned in this classified report speaking of the costs to reopen the lines, which had been requested by House lawmakers.

Details are still scarce at this point but with the setbacks from the F-35 program, an expansion of F-22 units within the US Air Force. As other nations continue to develop advanced fighter technology, many reports do claim that the F-22 remains key to aerial superiority. At this point, one could only hope for the return of the F-22 Raptor.
