Lightning Fast!
This video takes us through the highlights from the Planes of Fame fight demo for the Lockheed P-3 Lightning, witnessed by several spectators.
The P-38, also known as the Lightning, was a fighter and fighter-bomber aircraft used by the United States Air Force during WWI. It featured a twin-boom design with a central nacelle that contains the armament and the cockpit. Given its unconventional tail, it was commonly used in the Pacific theater.
Itโs also equipped with 1,600 hp twin Allison engines which makes it ideal for long-distance flying since it could fly faster than other fighters built during that time.
Do you think the P-38 is one of the most stylish and unique heavy fighters of World War II? Let us know in the comments!
