The P-51 Mustang is a long-range fighter that would escort heavy bombers to Berlin and back during World War II. This warbird eventually became America’s most capable fighter. It was also the first in making a major-scale, all-fighter sweep that was specifically sent to hunt down the dwindling Luftwaffe by the end of the war.

In this footage, we get to see P-51s at the 2002 Reno Championship Air Races. It’s quite awesome how close these things come at you at impressive speeds before you can even hear anything. Amazing how quick they are in level or near-level flight. Plus, the sound of the engines is like music to our ears!
