Plane Cleared To Land On Occupied Runway

A Close Call

This Volaris A320 coming from Mazatlán almost hit another A320 during its landing at Mexico City International Airport. The ATC gave the Volaris the go signal to use runway 05 for its landing.

What the ATC failed to notice is that another Volaris was on that same runway with passengers. Flight 4069, the plane on the ground, had to tell the ATC the runway was busy to try to deter another plane from running them over.

Luckily, the landing Volaris saw the other plane just in time for it to pull up and redo the landing again, this time hopefully with more coordination from the ATC.
