An average Cessna 172 weighs about 1,700 lbs when empty.

In this case, you’ll see a perfect reason for that, although we don’t have to explain it. Planes are meant to fly and they fly because wings generate lift, sooooo….if crazy winds come up under your wings they’ll take your plane right up.
