A twin-engine Piper PA-31 plane crashed onto a Texas highway Wednesday afternoon, splitting in two and damaging multiple vehicles. The crash occurred near a highway overpass in Victoria, about 150 miles southwest of Houston, around 3 p.m., according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Authorities reported that the pilot, the only person on board, was conscious but required medical evaluation. Three people sustained non-life-threatening injuries, while a fourth was taken to a hospital outside Victoria for higher-level treatment. Victoria Police Deputy Chief Eline Moya said, โThis is not something we see every day, but we are glad people seem to be OK.โ

Eyewitness Tony Poynor recounted the harrowing scene, describing how he heard the loud engine of the plane before spotting its shadow pass over his truck. Moments later, the plane began wobbling before crashing a quarter mile ahead. Images showed the aircraftโs fuselage split apart, with wreckage resting atop a car.

The FAA has launched an investigation into the cause of the accident.
Despite the dramatic impact, authorities emphasized that the outcome could have been far worse.
