The plane was legendary in sustaining heavy damage in battle enhanced by its almost self-sufficient firepower. They were not only utilized for daytime raids over Germany but wreaking havoc in the Pacific as well.

The B-17G was the final version of the Flying Fortress, incorporating all the changes done to its predecessor, the B-17F.
