A Nice Gesture

Teresa Posey, a teacher for a middle school choir in Kansas, recognized a Navy veteran eating with his wife. Since it was Veterans Day, she quickly devised a plan with her choir members to sing the national anthem to the veteran. Everyone stood up and paid their respects while the kids sang. The veteran, Mr. Roy Fred Blackburn, very much appreciated the gesture.

Blackburn was already in hospice at the time. Since it was Veterans Day, he decided to go out and eat lunch with his wife and the rest was history. Unfortunately, he died three months after this was taken. The kids from the choir sang at his funeral once again to pay tribute to the veteran.
