What a Beauty

The Lockheed P-38 Lightning has got to be one of the most beautiful warbirds ever built, and almost the most formidable. This American fighter and fighter bomber was used by the US Army Air Force during World War II. True to its name, the jet was indeed a force to be reckoned with- it’s extremely agile, unforeseen, and powerful.

The video features the Lockheed P-38J Lightning, “23 Skidoo” owned by the Planes of Fame Museum in Chino, California. It’s powered by the Allison V-1710, 12-cylinder engines that are turbocharged and supercharged, giving off a totally unique and powerful sound.

While the sound is smooth, you can easily tell that there’s a lot of power at the pilot’s command. We could listen to this plane all day- what a beauty!
