WWII Gunboat Restored to Glory
Hugo Andreae of Motor Boat and Yachting had the unique opportunity to test drive the beautifully restored MGB 81, a WWII motor gunboat famously dubbed the “Spitfire of the Seas.”

Originally built by the British Powerboat Company to defend against German e-boats, the MGB 81 has undergone extensive restoration.

While the original Packard enginesโeach capable of 1,500 hpโwere removed, the boat is now powered by three FBTC 13 diesel engines, each producing 850 hp.

This remarkable restoration pays tribute to an important piece of British maritime history, showcasing the MGB 81 in all its former glory.
