Tragically, it was damaged just before being retired to the RAF Museum in Hendon, ending its time in the skies. As the only airworthy Bf 109 from WWII at the time, its crash was a real loss to warbird enthusiasts everywhere.

With its distinctive shape and unforgettable engine roar, “Black 6” was an absolute head-turner. Watching her fly was like witnessing a piece of history in motion—but perhaps, on that final day, she should’ve stayed grounded.

Luckily, the story doesn’t end there. After the incident, Black 6 was lovingly restored and now rests proudly on display at the RAF Museum in Hendon, preserved in excellent condition for future generations to admire.
