General Electric has been hard at work innovating the latest and greatest technology for use in aviation. Their latest breakthrough is the General Electric GE9X jet engine, which ranks in as the biggest jet engine on Earth. Development of the massive engine has been going well but they still have a long way to go before it is ready.

The GE9X is said to be the most advanced of its kind with new materials that even General Electric is staying tight-lipped about. The airliners these planes are attached to are going to see a fair share of rough weather so they have to be prepared for the worst. Next up on the testing platform is how it deals with cold weather, which is it going to see plenty of while it is in flight.

General Electric’s Test Operation facility in Peeples, Ohio has a massive cooling unit built to simulate blizzard-like conditions. So watch this video to see how the GE9X deals with icing conditions while pushed to full power. It is an amazing experience to witness.
