What Happened

The aircraft departed Pampulha Airport, approximately 8 kilometers from central Belo Horizonte, bound for São Paulo on Monday afternoon. It remained airborne for only a few minutes before going down. TV Globo helicopter footage captured the aircraft’s final moments, showing it losing altitude, banking left to avoid taller buildings, and striking the residential structure before falling into a parking lot below.

Firefighters noted the aircraft hit the building’s stairwell rather than the occupied apartment sections on either side. A fire department officer told local news outlet G1 that a strike on the building’s sides would almost certainly have hit occupied apartments and produced a significantly higher death toll. No residents inside the building were injured and the structure showed no apparent risk of collapse following the impact.

The Investigation

Brazil’s Aeronautical Accidents Investigation and Prevention Center is responsible for investigating the crash. The cause has not been determined. According to the agency’s own data, Brazil recorded 153 air accidents in 2025 with a total death toll of 62, indicating that Monday’s crash occurs against a backdrop of persistent general aviation safety challenges in the country.
