Talk about a throwback to WWII skies!

This incredible footage from the Sywell Airshow 2024 showcases a thrilling dogfight scenario: a lone P-47 Thunderbolt is chased by two Me-109 Buchons—only to be rescued by three charging P-51 Mustangs! The mock skirmish ends with the P-47 making a clean getaway, just like in the movies.

Fun fact: the Buchon might look like a German Messerschmitt, but it’s actually a Spanish-built version of the Bf 109. Spain swapped out the original Daimler-Benz engines for Rolls-Royce Merlin engines—ironically the same type used in the Mustangs.
