What a Beauty!
This footage features the first-ever engine run of this Focke-Wulf Fw190 after a four-year hiatus. This marked the first significant milestone of getting the plane back in the sky during Easter’s Yealands Classic Fighters of 2019. The team behind the restoration is JEM Aviation, part of the Omaka-based, Chariots of Fire Fighter Collection (CFFC.)
The German Focke-Wulf Fw190 was one of the best fighter planes of WWII. It was simply an impressive fighter in its own right, showing great maneuverability and carrying heavy armament. Its first mass-produced version was the Fw 190A-2,ย featuring a top speed of approximately 410 miles/hr and a ceiling of 35,000 feet. During the mid-war period, it was an outstanding air-to-air fighter.
