The grim discovery was made during a post-flight inspection. Authorities have not identified the deceased, but both were male and reportedly in a state of decomposition. The Broward County Medical Examiner’s Office will perform autopsies to determine the causes of death.

JetBlue described the situation as “heartbreaking” and pledged cooperation with the ongoing investigation. It remains unclear how the individuals accessed the aircraft.

Experts note the extreme risks of stowing away in landing gear compartments, where temperatures plummet and oxygen levels drop at cruising altitudes. According to the FAA, 80% of stowaways in such conditions do not survive.

This incident follows a series of recent security breaches, including stowaways on flights in Seattle and Hawaii. Aviation experts warn these cases highlight vulnerabilities in airport security systems, posing significant safety risks.

“This keeps happening,” said Mary Schiavo, a former Department of Transportation official. “It’s a reminder of the urgent need to enhance airport perimeter security.”

Authorities continue to investigate how the individuals gained access to the aircraft.
