A man and two children were rescued Monday after their small plane crashed near Tustumena Lake on Alaska’s Kenai Peninsula. The three, who are immediate family members, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to a hospital, according to Alaska State Troopers.

The Piper PA-12 Super Cruiser had been reported overdue Sunday night, prompting a search in the area, known for its sudden and dangerous winds. The wreckage was discovered Monday morning on the lake’s east side.
Homer, the nearest community, is about 220 miles southwest of Anchorage. Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the crash.
