Trump Eyes Luxury Qatari Jet as Temporary Air Force One

President Donald Trump is reportedly set to receive a lavish Boeing 747-8 jet from Qatar’s royal family. The jumbo jet—often described as a “flying palace”—would temporarily serve as Air Force One during Trump’s second term before being handed over to his presidential library foundation in 2029.

While Qatar has stated that the aircraft is not a gift, officials from both nations confirm negotiations are underway. Trump himself acknowledged the arrangement on Truth Social, saying the plane is being provided “free of charge” and framed the deal as a win for American taxpayers fed up with Boeing delays.
Originally, Trump had secured a contract with Boeing to deliver two new Air Force One planes, but production has been plagued by setbacks and budget overruns, with estimates now pushing completion to 2027 or later. Frustrated, Trump explored alternatives and reportedly toured the Qatari jet earlier this year.

Despite the blowback, the deal appears to be moving forward, with Trump scheduled to visit Qatar as part of a Middle East tour this week. If finalized, this would mark a historic first: a foreign-supplied Air Force One used during a sitting U.S. president’s term.
