Spectacular Flight!
This video features a short but spectacular flight demonstration of the Planes of Fame Air Museum’s own P-47 ‘Razorback’ Thunderbolt, based in Chino, California. This particular aircraft is a rare ‘G’ model, one of only 354 examples built under license by Curtiss in Buffalo, New York, during World War II.
Powering this beast is the legendary Pratt & Whitney R-2800, an 18-cylinder radial engine producing a staggering 2,000 horsepower. With that kind of muscle, it’s no wonder the P-47 earned a reputation as one of the most rugged and powerful fighters of the war. The sight and sound of this incredible machine in action is simply stunning!
Is the P-47 on top of your list of the best WWII warbirds?
