According to the FAA and Queen Anne’s County officials, a Cirrus SR22, a four-seat, single-engine aircraft, veered off the runway while landing around 10:30 a.m., coming to a stop partially in the marshy shoreline of Chesapeake Bay.

The pilot—who was the only person onboard—was uninjured and declined medical treatment after being evaluated by emergency crews on the scene. The local fire department responded and cleared the site, and both federal and state investigators are now looking into the cause of the incident.

While the aircraft ended up in a wetland area, there was no reported damage to the runway. The airport, however, was temporarily closed to allow for further investigation and reopened later that afternoon.
