Pilot and Passenger Walk Away with Minor Injuries After Small Plane Crash in Spotsylvania

A small plane crash in Spotsylvania County on Wednesday afternoon ended with a fortunate outcome, as both the pilot and passenger survived with only minor injuries.

The Beechcraft aircraft had taken off from Leesburg and was en route to Hampton Roads when it encountered mechanical trouble. According to Virginia State Police, the pilot reported an issue with oil pressure and attempted to make an emergency landing in a field near the 11000 block of Scarlet Oak Road.

Emergency services received the initial call at 3:08 p.m. Upon arrival, responders found the plane down in the field, with the pilot and passenger alert and conscious. Both were transported to Mary Washington Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have been notified, and an investigation into the cause of the crash is underway.
