How WW2 Planes Fired Through Propellers

Did you know that during WWII, fighter aircraft used a synchronizer to fire bullets through propeller gaps without hitting the blades? This ingenious mechanism, connected to the machine gun and propeller shaft via gears and linkages, ensured perfectly timed firing.
If a blade was in front of the gun when the trigger was pulled, the synchronizer paused firing and resumed once the blade passed. It adjusted for propeller speed and gun firing rate, ensuring smooth and safe operationโallowing pilots to fire without destroying their own aircraft!
