Small Plane Crashes, Bursts Into Flames
A small biplane crashed and caught fire Monday afternoon near Eagle Mountain Lake in northwest Tarrant County, authorities said.

The aircraft, identified as a Starduster II, had just taken off from Flying Oaks Airport in Azle when it experienced mechanical issues around 2:45 p.m. The pilot attempted to land in an open field near the 4000 block of Silver View Lane, but the plane erupted into flames upon impact, igniting a portion of the field.

Despite the fiery crash, both the pilot and passenger escaped without serious injuries, according to the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office.
Footage from news helicopters showed the charred remains of the aircraft surrounded by scorched earth. The FAA has launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
