Watch: Israeli Jets Take Out Iranian Missile Launcher and Crew in Swift Strike

In the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported a rapid aerial strike that destroyed an Iranian ballistic missile launcher and the team operating it just minutes before it could fire. According to the Israeli military, this operation was part of a broader effort to reduce the number of missiles launched toward Israeli territory in the current air campaign. The IDF said pilots and intelligence units tracked the threat and acted quickly to neutralize it.

The strike highlights how airpower has been used in recent weeks to counter what Israeli officials describe as imminent threats from Iranian missile units. Ballistic missiles are long‑range weapons that can travel hundreds of miles and deliver conventional or other kinds of warheads. Israeli aircraft have carried out frequent strikes against these missile sites to prevent them from being used in attacks against Israeli cities and bases.

Targeting Missile Infrastructure Before Launch

Recent satellite images and war updates show that the air force has focused heavily on degrading Iran’s ability to launch long‑range attacks.

Israel and its allies, including the United States, have been engaged in sustained air operations against Iranian military infrastructure since late February 2026. Officials have said the aim is to limit Tehran’s capacity to strike back with ballistic missiles, drones and other weapons. These efforts have reportedly destroyed a significant portion of Iran’s missile launcher network, though some remain active.

The strike on the missile launcher is one of many in what the IDF calls Operation Roaring Lion, a coordinated effort to reduce missile and drone threats. According to military assessments, more than 60% of Iran’s ballistic missile launchers have been neutralised since the campaign began, although Iranian forces still possess a number of launchers that have not been hit.

The campaign has also seen repeated Iranian missile attacks on Israeli territory and allied states in the region, prompting further defensive measures from the IDF and its partners. Military officials have stressed that these operations are intended to protect civilian populations and to prevent large‑scale missile barrages from being launched toward Israel.
