Mustangs Over Oshkosh

Just as the airport opened, the unmistakable sound of Merlin engines filled the air as eleven P-51 Mustangs launched in quick succession for the famed “dawn patrol.” Lifting off into the early morning light, the fighters formed up smoothly before sweeping low over the Oshkosh campsites, providing an unforgettable wake-up call for spectators. The formation included legendary aircraft such as Old Crow, Sweet Revenge, and Glamorous Glen III, each carrying its own piece of aviation history.
This video captures the Mustangs on their return to Fighter Town after the sortie. Taxiing in classic “elephant walk” fashion, the aircraft rolled home one by one, their polished skins and distinctive markings- an impressive tribute to the enduring legacy of the P-51 Mustang.
