Delta Jet Crash-Lands Amid Harsh Weather

A Delta Air Lines CRJ-900 jet carrying 80 people crash-landed at Toronto Pearson Airport on Monday afternoon, flipping over on the tarmac and catching fire. The aircraft, operated by Endeavor Air, had departed from Minneapolis-St. Paul and attempted to land amid strong winds and drifting snow.

Despite the dramatic crash, all passengers and crew were evacuated. However, 18 people sustained injuries, including three in critical condition. A four-year-old child was transported to The Hospital for Sick Children, while two others were airlifted to trauma centers. Officials later confirmed none of the injuries were life-threatening.

Passenger Pete Koukov described the terrifying moment the plane lost control. โ€œThe second that the wheels hit the ground, then everything happened. We ended up completely upside-down. People were panicking,โ€ he recalled.

Photos and videos from the scene showed flames and black smoke billowing as firefighters worked to extinguish the fire. Airport operations were temporarily halted but resumed by 5 p.m.

Investigators from the Transportation Safety Board of Canada, along with a team from the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board, are now probing the crash. Early reports suggest that severe weather conditions, including wind gusts up to 38 mph, may have played a role.

The incident adds to a series of recent aviation accidents that have raised concerns about air travel safety.
