A Clever Landing Gear Indicator on the MiG-15
The MiG-15 features a simple yet ingenious mechanical landing gear indicator to help pilots confirm whether their gear is up or down.
In a video from AirZoo, Euan gives us a walkthrough of how this system works by taking a closer look underneath the aircraft. He explains that the MiG-15 has three landing gear indicators—one on each wing and another in front of the cockpit.

The mechanism is straightforward: a pin is directly connected to the landing gear. When the gear retracts into the fuselage, the pin lowers out of sight. When the gear extends for landing, the pin pops up, making it visible to the pilot.

It’s a simple yet effective way to ensure a safe landing. Pretty neat, right?
