Crash Near Wolf Creek
Footage from Utah shows a Bell 206 helicopter losing control and crashing in the Uinta Mountains, near State Road 35 and Wolf Creek Campground. The accident happened on a Sunday afternoon and was witnessed by families camping nearby, turning a quiet mountain setting into a sudden emergency scene.
The Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office said the crash occurred at about 3:10 p.m. Emergency crews found four people on board. One passenger suffered a serious head injury and was flown to a hospital by AirMed, while the remaining occupants were checked at the site.
Witnesses on the Ground
Wes Blazzard and his family were only feet away when the helicopter began to spin. Seeing it fall, they moved back in fear. Blazzard later said he could not believe anyone survived after seeing the damaged trees and wreckage.
He described one woman appearing shocked and gasping for air, though she was later stable. A man and another woman seemed mostly unharmed. A fourth person had a head wound and was likely the patient flown out.
Response and Investigation
After the crash, Blazzard stopped his son from running toward the wreck because of what he might find. He later said the event shook his child, showing how quickly a peaceful outing can change.
Authorities said several agencies responded, including Summit County deputies, natural resource officers, and medical air crews. The cause of the Bell 206 crash has not been released, and investigators continue to examine what led to the loss of control.
Survival Against the Odds
Despite heavy damage, all four occupants survived the impact, highlighting the strength of emergency response and modern aviation safety practices used today.
Officials continue reviewing evidence and witness video, aiming to understand mechanical or environmental factors involved in the mountain crash near Wolf Creek.
