A small plane crashed into a retirement community in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, on Sunday afternoon, igniting a massive fire and leaving several people injured.

The Beechcraft Bonanza, identified as Aircraft N347M, took off from Lancaster Airport at 3:15 p.m., bound for Springfield, Ohio. Just minutes later, it went down near the Brethren Village Retirement Community, crashing into a parking lot at the intersection of Fairview Drive and Meadowview Court.

According to air traffic control recordings, the pilot reported an open door shortly after takeoff and requested to return. Moments later, controllers instructed the plane to “pull up” before it crashed.
Footage from the scene shows flames engulfing vehicles as emergency crews worked to put out the fire. Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro confirmed that state police and first responders were actively assisting.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reported that five people were on board at the time of the crash. Their conditions remain unclear as authorities investigate the cause of the accident.
