Video Captures Moment Plane’s Wing Engulfed in Flames

Passengers on an Air Canada Express flight faced a harrowing landing at Halifax Stanfield Airport on December 28, 2024, when a suspected landing gear failure caused the plane to skid down the runway.

The aircraft, operated by PAL Airlines, had just arrived from St. John’s, NL, when the malfunction led to a fiery ordeal. Aden O’Callaghan, a passenger, captured dramatic footage showing flames bursting from the wing as the plane slid for over 15 seconds. “The wing erupted into a fireball,” O’Callaghan recalled.

Additional video showed emergency crews dousing the plane with water to extinguish the flames.

Despite the terrifying experience, all passengers and crew safely deplaned, according to airport officials. Air Canada confirmed the incident was due to a suspected landing gear issue.

The incident left passengers shaken but thankful for their safety.
