1,900 Horsepower Legend Returns

Test pilot Klaus Plasa unveiled a rare and powerful Focke-Wulf 190 A-9 at the Hahnweide 2025 Oldtimer Meeting, drawing strong interest from aviation enthusiasts. Delivering an impressive 1,900 horsepower, the aircraft is built around a Flugwerk reproduction airframe and powered by a Schwezow ASch-82, a 14-cylinder, double-row radial engine.
In performance and dimensions, this engine closely matches the legendary BMW 801 used in the original wartime fighter. The presentation also highlighted the aircraft’s distinctive cooling system, shown in exceptional detail. Shortly after takeoff, minor mechanical issues forced Plasa to limit the display to a single flyby and ground operations. The aircraft is currently based in Braunschweig, Germany.
