Beasts of the Air!

This footage captures the A-10 Warthog’s final demonstration in Battle Creek, performed during last year’s Battle Creek Field of Flight Airshow and Balloon Festival—and what a send-off it was.

The Firewalkers International Pyro team lit up the field with an incredible pyrotechnic display that added plenty of heat and spectacle to the show. But the real highlight? A rare and unforgettable Heritage Flight featuring both the P-47 Thunderbolt and the A-10 Thunderbolt II flying together.

It was a magnificent sight—two generations of Thunderbolts thundering through the skies. For aviation buffs, that’s about as good as it gets. The piston-powered P-47 brought that deep, throaty rumble that hits you in the chest, while the A-10 showed off its raw battlefield muscle.

We’ve got to say it—piston engines just sound better than jets. That growl is something special. But what do you think? Are you Team Jet or Team Piston? Let us know in the comments!
